Year 11 Heidi lands dream mechanic job
YEAR 11 Heidi has landed her dream job as a motorbike mechanic after impressing during a work experience placement.
She landed the work experience with engineering firm CJ Bulls through her mum, spending a week with the company in May this year.
She started off helping out in the office but took every opportunity to spend time with the mechanics in the workshop. Her enthusiasm impressed bosses so much they offered her an apprenticeship via their partnership with motor giant Honda.
In September she will start her paid apprenticeship at CJ Bulls, which will include regular trips to Honda Institute.
Heidi has continued her work experience ahead of starting the apprenticeship by taking up a Saturday job at CJ Bulls.
Heidi said: It has been the most amazing experience. My mum has a motorbike, so I have always had an interest in it. I started off just filing stuff but every chance I got I went into the workshop to watch the mechanics. They could see how enthusiastic I was. They started letting me do little jobs and I absolutely loved it. I found it so much fun and wanted to do more and more. Eventually they offered me a Saturday job and from there they have offered an apprenticeship. It is my dream job. My mum is really happy but I can’t work out if it is because of the apprenticeship or because she will have someone to work on her bike for free.
