Martial artist returns from international contest with medal haul

A MARTIAL ARTS champion has returned from an international competition with a haul of medals.

Year 10 student Sam is a member of Norwich-based club SESMA and was selected to compete in Italy at the National Championships.

It was the first time the club, which teaches martial arts and self-defence classes, had sent members to compete

Winning gold in the kumite - where two opponents spar against each other - against France, the talented youngster is a born competitor.

“I do love winning – the thrill of a gold medal is unbeatable which is why I train and work very hard before the tournament. It helps me focus.”
