School welcomes highest ever number of employers to fair

THE school’s annual careers fair has become an essential fixture in the region’s calendar, attracting more than 1,000 visitors.

A year in the making, the calibre of employers and quality of the information on offer is unparalleled, providing a vital resource not only for students but for the wider community.

This year UTCN welcomed over 60 employers – their highest ever number – and introduced innovations such as spotlight talks, which offered informative sector updates and careers news.

Employer Engagement Co-ordinator Amy Lerpiniere says the latest addition to the event proved popular.

“We had our standard forums in engineering and STEM, and there was a great variety of opportunities around work experience.”

 

There were spotlight sessions from British Sugar, East of England Energy Group and ARM. Amy said the fair was becoming “bigger and better”.

“It’s also important to note the hugely positive feedback our students received from our employers who praised their professionalism.”

The attention to detail such as parking provision and accessibility elevated the day. A

 

“We secured the use of additional car parks making it accessible. This meant more visitors and also allowed our employers to bring equipment such as VR headsets.”
