Students gain insight into AI during trip to Sanger institute
STUDENTS learned how AI is helping in the fight against cancer during a trip to the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
They got the chance to speak to doctors and researchers working at the world-leading genomics institute.
They toured the facility, learning about DNA sequencing and biodata, explored the stories of genomics research and discussed the social impact of genetics.
Year 11 student Fergus said: I had the chance to talk to one of the doctors about how AI was helping to improve the technology to fight illness and disease. It really gave the sense that possibilities in this area of study are limitless because of the emerging technology. It is an exciting time. It really inspired me to want to go into this kind of work and be on the forefront of fighting these illnesses. It is amazing work.
