Junior Development Engineer at Neucin Design

I joined UTCN in September 2020. The Engineering department was exemplary, standing out compared to any other school in the area. The facilities felt more like those of a university than a traditional school. Along with these resources came an excellent team of trained engineers with industry experience. Students were encouraged to take initiative and were supported in developing both school-related and personal projects.

I am now a full-time employee at Neucin Design. I have worked here for almost three years, ever since my Advisor and Arkwright mentor, Sophie Skipp, arranged my initial meeting. I completed a summer work experience placement with Neucin, which turned into a part-time job.

I now work as a Development Engineer in the medical engineering sector, collaborating with major companies and hospitals. My primary role is to take client requirements and turn them into functional products. This involves writing reports, designing parts in CAD, and using 3D printing and other technologies to bring ideas to life.

Alongside my employment, I have been accepted into Loughborough University for a Mechanical Engineering degree, which will begin in September 2025. I plan to continue working remotely on a part-time basis alongside my studies.

My advice to other UTCN students is that getting a job is about more than just grades or test scores—it's about you. To succeed, you need to stand out from the crowd, seize every opportunity, and be proactive. Don't hesitate to work for free if necessary, and always show respect to potential employers. Once you have your degree, feel free to reach out—we are always looking for new engineers.
