BSc (Hons) Motorsport Engineering Student at National Motorsport Academy

  1. Why did you come to UTCN?

I came to UTCN because of the incredible engineering facilities that they offered along with the T-Level course as this perfectly stated my journey towards my end goal of Motorsport.

2. What did you like about UTCN?

At UTCN I liked how the industry machines provided me with the practical work experience as well as the opportunity to join the Greenpower team which helped me get a more personal and hands on experience within a category of Motorsport.

3. Why did you apply for your apprenticeship/ job/ uni course?

I applied for my University course as it provided a flexible way of learning many topics within Motorsport from basic mathematics up to engine design and development as well as aerodynamics. Another huge bonus for me was that I would be able to study from home meaning I would not have to worry about finding any student accommodation and I would be able to still be with family and keep my current job so that I could earn money certain days of the week and study the other days.

4. What do you do in your course?

Currently in my University course I am studying Mathematics for Motorsport and have a deadline of mid January to complete the module. I get to complete regular tests to check my knowledge and understanding of topics within the module and find this really useful as I am able to recap what I have just learnt and put it into use. This is only my first of 11 modules and I am looking forward to progressing though each one.

5.  What advice would you give current UTCN students?

I would advise students to make the most of every day at UTCN, if you are offered an opportunity take it with both hands and embrace it as some opportunities you get offered are not found in other colleges. I would also say to make use of the amazing network that UTCN has to offer as you never know if you could meet a future employer or someone who can help you to reach your long term goal.
