Degree Level Apprentice at Jaguar Land Rover

Why Did You Come to UTCN?

I chose to come to UTCN because of the industry opportunities it offers students. Programs like Find Your Future allow us to engage in engineering projects set by real companies, which is invaluable for gaining practical experience. After seeing some of the impressive destinations of previous UTCN students, I knew the school and its industry connections would be able to help me progress towards my dream career.

What Did You Like About UTCN?

What I liked most about UTCN was the great support I received, helping me both academically and professionally throughout my four years there. This supportive environment allowed me to thrive and take advantage of various opportunities that I might not have otherwise pursued, such as participating in the school's Green Power electric go-kart team. These experiences not only enhanced my skill set but also deepened my passion for the automotive sector.

Why Did You Apply for Your Apprenticeship?

I applied for this apprenticeship because of my passion for the automotive industry, having previously completed work experience placements within the sector, I knew this was the field of engineering I wanted to pursue. It is a great opportunity to progress my career in this field and gain more valuable industry experience whilst also working towards a fully funded engineering degree from the University of Warwick.

What Do You Do in Your Apprenticeship?

In my apprenticeship at JLR, I am based in Gaydon and contribute to the development of future Land Rover vehicles. My role involves testing and simulating electrical components/systems, ensuring they perform effectively and meet specific requirements.

What Advice Would You Give Current UTCN Students?

My advice to current UTCN students is to seize every opportunity that comes your way. You never know how these experiences might benefit you in the future. Additionally, make the most of the work experience weeks provided; they are excellent chances to explore different types of companies and discover what you truly enjoy. You might be surprised by the connections and opportunities that arise from these experiences!
