BEng in Motorsport Technology at Oxford Brookes University
Why did you want to come to UTCN?
I had always wanted to do something in F1 and go to an engineering school. I came to an openday at UTCN whilst I was still in primary and had already decided at that point that UTCN was the right place for me from year 10.
Why did you decide to do a BEng in Motorsport Technology at Oxford Brookes University?
I’d always watched F1 and was looking for a good route into F1. I was introduced by Mrs Skipp to Patrick is who is Head of the Design office at Williams Advanced Engineering and Jaguar Formula-E at an event and he recommend this course.
What does a typical week look like?
On Monday and Thursday, I have lectures all day. On Tuesdays we have maths support. Most of the rest of my time is spent working with the Oxford Brookes Racing team making a fully electric racing car which we will race against other university teams from across Europe. It currently goes 80mph – but it will go faster! In my 3rd year I will be doing a 1-year industry placement which I hope to complete within an industry related to F1.
What advice would you give current UTCN students?
Make the most of it – pay attention in class as the subject knowledge will be needed at university.
