T Level Foundation Lead: Engineering

Mr Robson is our T Level Transition Lead for Engineering

Where did you go to university/ college and what did you study?

Studied Engineering with the Open University whilst serving in the Royal Air Force as an Aircraft Technician.

Why did you want to be a T Level Transition Lead: Engineering?

To teach the Engineers of the future and give those who did not quite get the grades for the T level another chance on the Transition programme.

What do you like about UTCN and your job?

I like UTCN as it gives KS4 students a unique opportunity to study Engineering alongside their core subjects and older students the chance to specialise with closer links to industry. I particularly like my job role as it allows me to teach Engineering at a range of levels and see student progress from year 10 GCSE through to T level and on to a career in Engineering.

Did you have any other jobs before becoming a T Level Transition Lead: Engineering?

I spent 27 years in the Royal Air force as an Aircraft Technician working on Jaguar and Tornado aircraft in support of many Operations around the world. Since leaving the RAF I have taught NC and HNC Engineering at Great Yarmouth college and GCSE level at North Walsham High School.

What do you do to relax? What are your interests?

In my spare time I am a member of the North Norfolk Beach Runners and like to take part in road races. I also enjoy motorcycling and brewing my own beer just not at the same time. Other interests include cooking, reading and DIY.
