Thank you for accepting a place at UTCN for this September. Whilst this is a very uncertain time for all, we do still expect the 2020/2021 academic year to start as normal and we look forward to you joining us then! In the meanwhile, there are a few items of information which I hope you will find useful:
In this letter, we set out a few important items of information which I hope that you will find useful.
We normally run an Induction Day for all new Year 12 students in July. However, given the circumstances, we are planning to hold this in late August or early September instead. The purpose of this day will be to familiarise you with travel to UTCN, the UTCN site layout, the curriculum and expectations and to start to make new friends.
Again, we usually hold an information evening for parents/carers of new Year 12 students in July. We will reschedule this for September. At this event, UTCN systems and procedures will be explained and parents will have the opportunity to meet key staff including Form Tutors.
Now that you have been formally accepted by us, we need to gather some personal information from you. This should be entered via our online portal, where you will see that extra data fields have been added: https://utcn.applicaa.com
Please complete this by May 31, 2020.
To help you prepare for your post-16 studies, we have put together a Summer Work Pack. This will help you gently prepare for Year 12. The pack will also outline the stationery and equipment that you will need in September. These packs are personalised and will be sent out to you in July.
In August, First Buses will announce the bus timetable for September 2020 for the UTCN contract buses, this will be published on the school website. We anticipate that this will operate at the same, or similar times, to the current service. This service allows students to travel from Norwich Rail Station, Castle Meadow or St. Stephens to UTCN.
Bus passes for the UTCN contract bus will be available to purchase from the first day of the academic year in September. The pass is available through the ‘First Bus App’ but must be purchased directly from UTCN. Once payment has been made a code will be issued to activate the pass as an ‘M Ticket’, further details on how to purchase bus passes will be provided at the Induction events.
The Sixth Form Dress Code is available on the school website under ‘Joining Us’. Many students have asked if students could try on samples of the PPE gear (Personal Protection Equipment) prior to purchasing and, therefore, we will arrange this as soon as it is safe to do so. We do appreciate that this could mean that some students may not have all their kit ready by September.

Most students chose their KS5 options at interview. We will send you a copy of these for you to check after Easter.
These are available on our website. Friday, September 4 is the first day of term for new students.
