Extra Curricular Activities

We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities for our students after school

Machining -  Earn your own UTCN machining certificate. This course will support you for teh WJEC qualification. You will learn H&S, setting up a lathe, Turning and facing, drilling and tapping, milling and slot cutting.

STEM Racing: F1 in Schools - An F1 in Schools taster session is an immersive STEM programme where students design, ( time permitting build, and race miniature, compressed-gas-powered) F1 cars. It gives young people hands-on experience in aerodynamics, CAD/CAM design, budgeting, and project management

Green power (Y10) - F24 is a nationally recognised car racing competition using green power. Teams design and develop a standard car to increase performance with the aim of driving the car further over a 90 minute race period. Our local race meeting is at Lotus in May, where a team will be chosen to represent the College.

Vehicle Maintenance (Y10) - Vehicle maintenance for year 10 students who have an interest in how a motor vehicle should be periodically maintained and regularly serviced, hands on skills will be developed with the use of basic tools and equipment along with a basic understanding of some inner workings of modern car mechanical and electrical systems.

Duke of Edinburgh -  The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a world-leading youth achievement award that empowers young people aged 14–24 to build self-belief, resilience, and life skills. Founded in the UK in 1956 by Prince Philip, it challenges participants to step out of their comfort zones through volunteering, physical activities, and outdoor expeditions

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Competition -  It teaches you how to think creatively and solve problems just like a Samsung innovator, using a process widely used in the tech industry called Design Thinking.

CREST Award - The CREST Awards is the British Science Association's nationally recognised programme for student-led project work in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects for young people

Electronics -  Explore the exciting world of electronics through practical, hands-on projects! In this club, you will learn about basic electronic components such as resistors, LEDs, switches and batteries, and discover how they work together in a circuit. You will also be introduced to printed circuit boards (PCBs) and learn how electronic circuits are designed and assembled. Throughout the club, you will develop practical skills in safely using electronic equipment and troubleshooting simple circuits.

Strategy Games -  BloodBowl is a game developed by Games Workshop. What is Blood Bowl? A board game of sports mayhem, where scoring points and smashing your rivals wins fame and glory.Two teams play tabletop to score touchdowns in American football style with a difference. The player is the team manager who chooses from a range of races with different attributes and skills with the aim to score the most TD's.

PE Sports Fixtures - These will be announced in school
