Entry Criteria

You do not need to have studied engineering/ Design and Technology previously but it will be valuable if you have. However, in order to take Engineering you must have a 6 in Mathematics if you are not currently taking these subjects at GCSE

Content Summary

  • Study units include:
    • Applied Engineering, Science and Mathematics
    • Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing
    • Mechanical and Electrical Principles

Equivalent in size to one A Level, this qualification is available to those students considering the A Level Plus programme. The course is designed to complement your academic study by providing you with a solid base of knowledge and skills in engineering.

The most common progression routes from this course would include university or apprenticeship programmes.

Students working on the extended certificate course will receive a rich and varied engineering experience, along the way developing a blend of theoretical and practical skills.

You will study a number of separate engineering units delivered over two years, which will keep you busy and motivated whilst opening your eyes to the huge range of potential engineering pathways.
