Where and what did you study?

University of Portsmouth – Marine Biology

Why did you want to work in a school?

I have always been fascinated by the natural world and the way things work. My career in science took me around the world, all over the UK and from European space agency in Germany to rocky shores on Iceland, I want to share my knowledge and love of the subject so everyone has the amazing opportunities science gave me.

What do you like about UTCN and your job?

The professional attitude, respect, kindness and politeness of the young people. The students at UTCN are so keen to learn and engage with the subject and are a delight to have in the classroom.

Did you have any other jobs before becoming a Science Teacher?

Besides being a teacher which I have done for a number of years I worked as a research scientist in a range of institutions from the European Space Agency to Portsmouth and Newcastle university.

What do you do to relax? What are your interests?

I love being outdoors with my dogs, playing PC games and Rugby.
