If you would like to join us in September 2020 please click on the button at the top of this page. Once we recieve your application we will invite you to a post 16 interview. At this meeting we will discuss you interest in UTCN and your future career plans and interests. If UTCN is a suitable option for you we will make you a written offer, conditional on achieving certain GCSE grades.
1. Acceptance - if you decide to accept our offer, you have a place with us subject to achieving the required GCSE results. As the year progresses you will be invited to the following events:
2. Induction Day – for students
We will be holding an Induction Day for all new Year 12 students on Thursday, July 9. It is important that you attend this if at all possible. The purpose of this day is to help familiarise you with travel to UTCN, the UTCN site layout, curriculum and expectations and to start to make new friends. The day will start at 9.00am and will finish at 3.00pm. During the day, you will take part in project activities and other exercises. All stationery and equipment will be provided. You should wear smart business dress and lunch will be provided free of charge. Snacks and drinks will also be available to purchase. UTCN workshop wear will also be available to try on and purchase from 3.00pm.
The UTCN contract buses will be running in the morning and the afternoon and we recommend students familiarise themselves with this service if they plan to use it in September. The timetable for these buses can be found on our website under ‘Travel’. A UTCN member of staff will be available on St Stephens to point students in the right direction. On production of your Induction letter, travel on the bus services marked as ‘contract’ and the number 37 and 38 buses will be free.
Please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your attendance.
3. New Parents’ Information Evening
On Thursday, July 9 at 5.00pm we will be holding an information evening for parents/carers of Year 12 students. This event is aimed at parents/carers and you do not need to attend but please let you parent/carer know about this event. During this meeting, UTCN systems and procedures will be explained and parents will have the opportunity to meet key staff.
4. Summer Work Pack
To help you prepare for your post-16 studies, we have put together a Summer Work Pack. This will help you gently prepare for Year 12. These packs are personalised and will be issued to you on July 9.
The majority of new Year 12 students have been made conditional offers subject to achieving certain GCSE results. When GCSE results are published on Thursday, August 22, you should come to UTCN to confirm your place. Enrolment will take place from 10.00am to 3.00pm on Thursday, August 22 and Friday, August 23. It is important that you bring your printed results notification with you when you enrol. If you cannot make these dates, it is important you contact us in advance, so we can hold your place for you.
6. Admission Form and Home School Agreement
We have received most of these, but if you have not already completed these forms, please complete them and return them to us as soon as possible.
7. Business Dress
A list of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and the dress code for Sixth Form students can be found here. Students can try on and order PPE at the Induction Day on July 9. We strongly advise that orders are completed on this day to ensure that PPE is delivered on time.
Orders will be available for collection from UTCN on the following dates:
- Thursday, August 20 – 12:00 – 15:00
- Friday, August 21 – 10:00 – 15:00
- Wednesday, September 2 – 10:00 – 15:00
- Thursday, September 3 – 10:00 – 15:00
As well as PPE, reasonably priced suits and other business dress will be available to purchase. If you have any queries about PPE, please contact V&J Knitwear on 01553 772563 or email@example.com
First Buses will shortly announce the bus timetable for September 2020 for the UTCN contract buses. We anticipate that this will operate at the same, or similar times, to the current service. This service allows students to travel from Norwich Rail Station, Castle Meadow or St. Stephens to UTCN.
Bus passes for the UTCN contract bus will be available from the first day of the academic year in September. Details on how to purchase bus passes will be available at enrolment.
If you have an identified Special Educational Need, have a medical condition or feel that you will need extra support in lessons, it is important that you make contact with our SENDCO, Mr Beckett via email on firstname.lastname@example.org
Most students chose their KS5 options at interview and these will be checked at Induction Day, and then confirmed on Results Day. You will be given a copy of your options at Induction Day, and will have an opportunity to discuss your choices.
11. Term dates
These are available on our website here. Parents and students should note that Wednesday, September 4 is the first date of term for new students.
We look forward to seeing you soon, but in the meantime, if you have any queries, please contact admissions on 01603 580280 or contact us via email at email@example.com
